FAQ

Selling, buying and swapping apps: your questions answered

Short, plain answers about listing an app, proving ownership, pricing, payment and handover. Vibe Classifieds is free, in beta and run by one person.

Selling an app

Where can I sell my app?

You can sell an app on Vibe Classifieds, a free board built for live vibe coded apps. Paste your app's URL, review the fields the site suggests, set your price, and prove you control the domain. Once verified, the listing goes public with a green Verified ownership badge, and interested buyers message you privately inside the site.

How do I sell a vibe coded app?

Put the app on its own custom domain, then create a listing: paste the URL, check the suggested fields, add your price and what is included, and verify domain control. The listing goes public after verification. Buyers contact you through private messages. Agree the terms, use an escrow service for the handover, then transfer the domain, code and accounts.

Can I sell an app built with Lovable or Bolt?

Yes, as long as the app is live on its own custom domain and you own the project, the code and the domain. Builders such as Lovable, Bolt, Cursor or Replit do not matter to the board. What matters to a buyer is that the app works, you can export or hand over the project, and the accounts behind it can be transferred.

Is it free to list an app for sale?

Yes. Listing an app, browsing apps and messaging other members are all free, and there are no listing fees, success fees or commissions. Vibe Classifieds is in beta and run by one person. The site never handles money between buyer and seller, so any payment is arranged directly between the two of you.

What should I include in my listing?

Say what the app does, who uses it, what stack it runs on, what the sale includes, and why you are selling. State revenue and user numbers only if you can back them up, and mark them clearly as self-reported. Include your asking price or a swap preference. Specific, honest listings get better messages than vague ones.

How long does my listing stay up?

A public listing stays live for 45 days and renews in one click, so a seller who is still open to offers keeps the listing without re-entering anything. If you stop renewing, it expires. A listing that never completes domain verification is private the whole time and is deleted after 14 days.

Can I edit or remove my listing?

Yes. Sign in, open your listing and change the price, description or details at any time, or take it down if you sold the app elsewhere or changed your mind. Please remove a listing once the app is sold so buyers do not waste time messaging you about something that is no longer available.

Buying an app

How do I buy a vibe coded app?

Browse the apps for sale, filter by category or type, and open a listing that fits. Visit the live app yourself, then message the owner privately through the site. Ask about what is included, how the app is run and what the handover looks like. Agree terms in writing and use escrow for the payment and the domain transfer.

Is it safe to buy an app online?

It is safer when you do your own checks. Every public listing shows that the owner proved control of the domain, but that is the only thing the badge confirms. Use the live app, ask for evidence behind any revenue claim, put the sale terms in writing and pay through an escrow service rather than sending money directly.

What should I check before buying an app?

Use the app as a customer would. Ask for proof of revenue and traffic, a list of every third party account and subscription it depends on, how much of the work depends on the founder, and who owns the code, content and brand. Ask for a short call or message history. If an answer is vague, treat that as information.

Can I buy an app with no revenue?

Yes. Many apps on the board are early projects with users but little or no income, and sellers price them accordingly. A no revenue app can still be worth buying for its code, its domain, its design or its audience. Judge it on what it saves you in build time and what you plan to do with it.

How do I contact a seller?

Open the listing and send a message. Messaging is private and happens inside the site between signed-in members. Email addresses are not shown, and there are no public comments on listings. You can sign in for free with a new account. Keep early questions specific, such as what is included in the sale and what the app costs to run.

Does the site guarantee that an app works as described?

No. Vibe Classifieds is a classifieds board, not an intermediary or an inspector. We check that the owner controls the domain and we hide listings whose domain stops loading, but descriptions, revenue and user numbers are written by the seller. Always inspect the app and confirm claims yourself before you pay.

Swapping

Can I swap my app for another app?

Yes. Choose the Swap type when you create a listing and describe what you would take in exchange, for example another app in a given category, a domain, or a set of services. Interested members message you privately to propose a trade. Both sides should agree on the terms in writing before anything changes hands.

How do I decide if a swap is fair?

Put both apps through the same checklist: revenue, users, age, running costs, how much work each needs, and how easily each can be handed over. If the two sides are not equal, add a cash top up, a period of support or another asset to balance the trade. Write down what each person is giving and getting.

What does the Free listing type mean?

A Free listing is an app the owner is willing to give away at no price, often to someone who will keep it running or build on it. The same rules apply: a custom domain, proven domain control and a clear description of what is included. Free does not remove the need for a proper handover.

Verification and safety

What is a verified ownership badge?

The green Verified ownership badge means the person who posted the listing proved they control the app's domain. They did that by adding a meta tag, a DNS TXT record or a text file at /.well-known/vibeclassifieds.txt. It means exactly that and nothing more: it does not confirm revenue, traffic, code quality or anything the seller wrote.

Why do I need a custom domain to list an app?

A custom domain gives the listing a real identity that the seller can prove they control, and it is what a buyer actually takes over. An app on a shared subdomain belongs to a host's account, so ownership is harder to show and to transfer. Requiring a domain keeps the board to apps that can really change hands.

How do I verify that I own the domain?

After you paste your URL, the site gives you a unique token and three ways to use it. Add a meta tag to the home page, create a DNS TXT record, or publish a text file at /.well-known/vibeclassifieds.txt. Pick whichever is easiest for your setup. The listing stays private until the check passes, then goes public.

What happens if my domain stops loading?

The site periodically re-checks public listings. If a listing's domain stops loading, the listing is hidden until the domain responds again. This keeps dead apps and expired domains off the board. If your app was down for a short time, fix the problem and the listing can come back after the next check.

How do I report a suspicious listing?

Use the flag button on the listing. When three different people flag the same listing, it is hidden automatically so it can be reviewed. Flags work best for listings that are misleading, abandoned or against the rules. For anything urgent or unclear, use the contact page and include the listing's domain.

Fees and money

Do you take a commission?

No. Vibe Classifieds charges no commission, no listing fee and no success fee. Listing, browsing and messaging are free. The site does not handle payments at all, so the price is agreed and paid directly between buyer and seller. The board is in beta and run by one person.

How do payments work?

The site never handles money. Buyer and seller agree a price and arrange payment themselves. For anything beyond a trivial amount we recommend an escrow service, where the buyer pays into escrow, the seller transfers the domain and assets, the buyer confirms, and escrow releases the funds. Never pay a stranger by an irreversible method upfront.

How much is my app worth?

There is no formula that fits every app. Value comes from revenue and how stable it is, growth, churn, age, traffic sources, running costs, dependence on the founder, code quality, how easily the app transfers and the audience behind it. Our valuation guide walks through each factor and shows how to build an asking price.

How should I price a swap?

Start from the value of each app on the same basis, using revenue, users, running costs and the effort needed to keep each one alive. Then adjust for handover difficulty and risk. If the result is uneven, balance it with cash, support time or another asset. A swap is fair when both sides can explain why it is.

Handover after a sale

How do I transfer an app and its domain to a buyer?

Agree the list of assets first, then use escrow so neither side takes the risk alone. Turn off the registrar lock and push the domain to the buyer, or give them the authorization code. Hand over the code repository, hosting, database, third party accounts and customer data, rotate every secret, and stay available for a support period.

What happens to my users when I sell?

Users stay with the app. The buyer takes over the service, the customer relationship and any billing, so tell your users about the new owner before the handover and check your privacy policy covers a transfer. Hand over billing carefully so paying customers are not charged twice or lose access during the switch.

Should I give the buyer my passwords?

Do not share your personal logins. Move assets into accounts the buyer controls, or invite them as owners to organization accounts and then remove yourself. Rotate every API key, database credential and signing secret at the handover so the old values stop working. Keep your own accounts out of the sale entirely.

Listing rules

What kinds of apps can I list?

Live apps on their own custom domain that you own and have the right to sell, swap or give away. Categories are SaaS, AI tool, Developer tool, Marketplace, Directory, Productivity, Game and Other. Listings that are illegal, deceptive, copied from someone else or abandoned are not allowed. The full list is on the listing rules page.

Can I list an app I do not own?

No. You must own the app, its code and the domain, or have the clear right to sell them. Listing someone else's work, a client project without permission or an app built on code you cannot transfer breaks the rules. Domain verification stops people listing domains they do not control, but ownership of the rest is your responsibility.

Are revenue numbers checked?

No. Revenue, traffic and user figures on a listing are self-reported by the seller and are not verified by the site. Sellers should state only numbers they can back up, and buyers should ask for evidence such as payment dashboard exports or analytics access before relying on any figure in an offer.

Account and messages

Do I need an account to browse or buy?

You can browse listings without an account. You need a free account to post an app or to send a message to a seller. Signing up is quick, and an account is created for you as part of posting. Messages stay inside the site, so your email address is not shown to the other person.

Are messages private?

Yes. Messaging is between signed-in members inside the site. Email addresses are not displayed, and listings have no public comment section, so offers and questions are not visible to other people. Treat any agreement reached in messages as the start of the deal and confirm the final terms in writing.
